My debate topic is about if "The Show Sixteen and Pregnant has an effect on teen pregnancy". This show tells us how teenage girls get pregnant when they are 16, which is not right. About 750,000 other teenage girls get pregnant each year in the U.S.-the ones that are not from wealthy families. In fact the U.S. has the highest rates of teen pregnancy and teen birth in the fully developed world, according to CNN.com. What "16 and pregnant" is about is that, it tells the truth of teen pregnancy in America. The young women in the show struggle to make ends meet, they always make mistakes to show it to an adult life soon. Their relationships with their friends and families always get ruined, and it's hard raising a child with pressure. Some people say that this show glamorizes teen pregnancy. According to the National Campaign, they found that teens who watch "16 and pregnant," 82% believes that the show helps teens better understand the challenges of teen pregnancy and parenthood, to try to avoid it.
